Abramovich's Chelsea are generally dull,overpaid and the players have no endearing qualities whatsoever.

Firstly, there is a HUUUUGGEEEEEE difference between a Millionaire and a Billionaire, the latter being 1,000 million. Al Fayed is trying to run a self sustainable football club, as a business, in which he has a personal interest in, he cant AFFORD to go throwing mad amounts of money around unlike Abramovich.

The Russian is well known for his lavish spending, jewelry, exotic holidays, yachts, you name it, hes bought it, so when he bought Chelsea, with a fortune of around £8 billion (8 thousand million), its a little bit different, he is not at Chelsea for the money, it is a non sustainable business model, he has ammased the club with hundred of millions of pounds worth of debt, screw them over royally when he wants the money back so he can leave the club in ruins)which he has written off with a non-interest loan (which he will probably never claim back, unless he gets bored of his toy and decides to screw the club over royally by asking for it back).

Chelsea football club is consistently losing money. A major factor is the fact that they pay their players over inflated wages, averaging around £100,000 a week EACH for the first team squad, not to mention bonuses, tens of millions in transfer fees, and costs of running the club it is easy to see why people hate them. They have technically BOUGHT their success, whilst other clubs work hard for it, they live in a fantasy world where they have never ending resources to make themselves bigger and better. Man City are in a similar situation after some very rich men from Abu Dhabi bought them over, however they are working towards a more sustainable business model which will lead to over profits over the medium term, say 5 to 10 years. The sooner the likes of these billionaire oligarphs are out the game the better, football clubs are not play things, they are peoples livelyhood, and puts other clubs in a difficult position trying to catch up to something which they cant possibly live up to.

Teams have not had the luxury and unfair financial advantage that Arsenal and Mu had when only two CL places so until Chelsea invested heavily even before Abramovich arrived there was no real challenges too the Big 2.. Liverpool spent but not on the same level as Man utd. only Blackburn mounted a serious challenge and that took massive investment. Chelsea were just short of braeking the monopoly but when Abramovich took over they spent alot on alot of players under two managers and finally gained success.

People just hate someone who has not been part of the monopoly of European football.

Arsenal are perhaps a good comparison in seeing the way neutral football fans such as myself see Chelsea as a club.

Arsenal have had one manager for many years.He has produced sides that have consistently achieved either in terms of maintaining a challenge at the highest level, or actually winning things.
He has also taken responsibility for not spending money for the sake of it, and has nurtured players like Fabrigas with an eye to financial sustainability. Liverpool and Man Utd take note!

Chelsea do not fall into those categories, but they do fall into the category of not only financial opportunism, but also faithlessness. Benitez, Ferguson and Wenger would all have been sacked by Chelsea for failing to win at various points in their careers. 'The Special One' would be seen as a significant successor at all those clubs... but Chelsea discarded him.

The greed of business and 'sport' are not a natural mix. They are and always have been uncomfortable bedfellows... but Chelsea look and feel like 'bought' honours.

Having a club captain who exhibits the qualities of 'thuggery', 'mono-syllabic ignorance' and immorality, doesn't help. Footballers are not renowned for moral rectitude... but John Terry must surely be the least admirable captain England has ever had. Inarticulate, boastful and a natural bully.

All these things feed into the perception of Chelsea as a club. In strict footballing terms... they are mercenaries. Even though Mourinho turned them into a team... Abramovich turned them back into a bunch of whores.

My reason for hating them isnt jealousy of the money. Most clubs spend more money than Arsenal so whatever. And i also dont hate Man city and they have more money than anyone right now.

Firstly they have a lot of players that are just really easy to hate - Ashley Cole, Terry, Ballack, Drogba.

Secondly, the way the club is ran makes them an easy hate figure. They have no class and a lot of loathsome individuals work behing the scenes - Bruce Buck or whatever his name is and Kenyon (now left) for example. Several questions have been raised as to how Roman actually came into his oil money in the first place. Mourinho dragged the clubs name through the mud right up until he left.

They also break the rules as and when they see fit - they basically get away with it by paying off the club eg spurs or by paying some miniscule (to them) fee that the spineless uefa/fifa give them. And they are the same on the pitch - see prev European games and the ref they basically forced into resignation for fear of his life by stoking the flames, as just a few examples.


But as an Arsenal fan they way they conducted the Ashley Cole affair and then lied openly about it was the start of my hatred for them. Back in the days of Eddie Newtown and Gavin Peacock and up until Ranieiri's time i actually didnt mind Chelsea at all.

I don't think it's jealousy or money.. Else, Man City would be loathed more than Chelsea by everyone..

It's their mannerisms like u pointed out in the option d.. They play "unattractive and corrupt football" a shear mockery to the game.. But the sad thing is, money talks for this team.. They can buy practically anyone in their pockets by paying them a great sum.. So, basically, their etiquettes and their style of play is what gets them down..

Also, they have easily hateable players with little or no reputation and have good amount of arrogance.. Like Terry, Drogba to name some..

Not 2 forget pointing out, at last, that they make and break their own rules and escape like tiny mice..
